Free NHS Podiatry is available to people with a foot problem who also have a medical need for treatment; those who are over 70 years of age with a medical problem and those who have:

  • Diabetes
  • Peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation to the feet)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis or similar auto-immune diseases
  • Neuropathic feet (cannot feel pain or pressure)
  • A history of foot ulceration
  • Acute bacterial foot or toe infections
  • Severe foot deformities
  • Painful foot lesions
  • Require advice on foot care or shoe buying


Normally you will be referred to the Podiatrist by a member of the Primary Health Care Team; Doctor or Nurse.
