Leading doctors and nurses make joint COVID-19 call

Please see the attached open letter sent from the leading health figures in Dorset.

The letter is a plea to all residents in the county to respect and maintain the social distancing rules put in place to protect everyone in Dorset.

If we can keep reinforcing the key messages I hope we can keep the virus under control in Dorset.

Walking for Health

Walking is Good For You – Join our organised walks from Wednesday 30th September

We have teamed up with Walking for Health which is England’s largest network of health walks with over 360 active walking schemes; there are lots in Dorset. The walks are led by friendly, trained volunteers; they are not strenuous and will take no longer than an hour and it is free to join in. The walks will be every Wednesday: they will start and end at the Blue Vinny starting at 11am returning at noon, those who wish to can then have refreshments in the pub

What do you have to do? Please register your interest now by e-mailing our volunteer walk coordinator, Ruth Webb: ruthwebb@sky.com. She will then contact you, confirming all the details.

Masks or Face Coverings

Face coverings or masks are recommended to be worn in GP practices. Therefore if you have a booked appointment in the surgery please bring one with you unless you are exempt..

We have a selection of handmade fabric facemasks available at the surgery which have kindly been made by the Dorchester Scrubbers. They have asked for a donation of £5 per mask to cover the cost of the fabric. There is an honesty box in the surgery lobby with the masks.

Social prescribing

We now have a social prescribing lead, Kate, at the surgery. For further information please see the Social Prescribing tab.

Medication

Medication can be collected from the Dispensary as normal. If you are self-isolating due to possible symptoms of Coronavirus a family member (not from your household) or neighbour can collect for you. Please follow the social distancing measures we have set in place.

Charity Books Scheme

We are not currently accepting books for the Book Scheme due to the current circumstances. We are also not selling books at the moment. Thank you

NeighbourCar

NeighbourCar is looking for volunteer drivers to help patients get to hospital and other appointments. Please see NeighbourCar Scheme side bar on right hand side.
